Our Commitment

At Berlin Bound, we have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery.

We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships.

We believe that everyone should work in an environment that is free from exploitation, forced labor, and human trafficking.

Our Business and Supply Chain

We recognize that modern slavery is a hidden risk in every industry.

Our supply chain includes:

  • Online SAAS (Software As A Service) – We are actively moving towards building everything we use software-wise, in-house. For now, we buy as much as we can through App Sumo (affiliate link) – which is a marketplace where small app creators can sell what they create.
  • Website Hosting – We’re proud to partner with Siteground (affiliate link) for website hosting.
  • YouTube, Search Console, and Gemini – Google does a lot for content creators, and we highly recommend Google Workspace (affiliate link) if you’re a blogger or business owner. As content creators, travel bloggers, and travel agents ourselves, we’ve seen first-hand how powerful it can be. We also really appreciate how much effort Google puts into fair hiring practices. They value the happiness of their employees, and they often pay well above average for roles at Google.
  • Viator – We use Viator (affiliate link) to book tours for our clients. We find Viator often offers better consumer protections than booking directly with tour operators. Based in Germany? Use this link instead (affiliate link).
  • OnlineJobs – We are proud to have a worldwide team! We work with vetted virtual assistants from the Philippines, who post contractor employee profiles on OnlineJobs.ph (referral link). Unfortunately, throughout the Philippines and the entire region of Southeastern Asia, there’s an ever-growing problem of women and children being trafficked. This is especially prevalent in the tourism industry, and it’s something we’re fighting against. By giving women remote work opportunities with an hourly rate often 3-5 times the national average for in-person positions, we’re able to give them a ethical hand-up. It’s a beautiful thing seeing people get on their feet, and make positive changes in their lives. We’re happy to have a small role in that.

We strive to ensure that our suppliers share our commitment to fair labor practices.

We’re always learning and growing, and we’re open to changing our minds when we get new information.

That is why this page will be constantly updated.

Our Policies and Due Diligence

To ensure we are not complicit in any form of human rights violations, we:

  • Vet our suppliers: We conduct internal reviews of our primary suppliers to assess their labor practices.
  • Maintain Transparency: We encourage employees and partners to report any concerns regarding unethical behavior without fear of retaliation.
  • Contractual Compliance: Where possible, we include specific clauses in our contracts that require suppliers to comply with all applicable anti-slavery laws.

Training

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery in our supply chains and our business, we provide relevant guidance to our staff to help them identify and report potential “red flags.”

Looking Ahead

We understand that the fight against modern slavery is an ongoing process.

We will continue to review our internal practices and supplier relationships to ensure our standards remain high.
